I shot a DMG side match early this fall at another local club. My first impressions weren't favorable, compared to the Multi Gun matches my club usually hosts. I am the IDPA match director at my club, so I decided to order to get a true feel for it, I needed to put on my own. So this Saturday, I am hosting our club's first DMG side match. It has 2 stages (in addition to 3 of regular IDPA) with a round count as follows: 16 Shotgun (all Birdshot), 22 pistol and 12 rifle. One stage utilizes all 3 guns and another just 2. I will post how it turns out this weekend and maybe even some video.
My impressions so far in preparation are:
It is difficult to design stages within the rules, especially the round count. I have designed dozens of of Multi Gun stages for our club's matches (mostly following outlaw rules). I have had to adjust the round counts in both stages to conform to the restrictions. I guess it is really no different than the 18 round limit for IDPA. Most here interested in Multi Gun like high round counts utilizing all 3 weapons, so we will see how it goes.
Second is scoring. Beach Bunny does not yet support scoring for DMG, so I guess I will just class everyone as they shot the regular match. It will be interesting.
