I missed this topic when I first signed up here, but anyway..
My name is Greg, and I live in Southeast Pa. I've been into shooting for probably close to 25 years. ( yep, another old guy, or at least getting old guy.. lol )
I was introduced to the 1911 in military, and I've been pretty much addicted ever since. As far as shooting goes, I got involved in both IPSC and Sporting Clays. For 2 or 3 years I was very active in both sports. Eventually, I let go of Sporting and IPSC for several reasons really, but mostly because I had 2 young kids and I got kind of busy being a dad.
Now, fast forward to 1999, a good friend of mine, who I'd met via Sporting Clays, called me one day and told me about this great new shooting sport called IDPA. He was sure since I'd been involved in IPSC I'd really like it. I shot my first IDPA match in August of '99. I didn't do much with IDPA for the rest of that year, but starting in the spring of 2000, we jumped in with both feet and have been at it ever since.
As it is, we shoot a match just about every weekend. I've ended up putting alot of time into IDPA, but in return, I've gotten alot of it. Probably the best thing is the terrific group of people I've met through IDPA. I like the people and love to shoot, so hey, what could be better? I currently shoot in CDP with the occasional foray into SSP class. And I SO every now and then too.
Aside from shooting, I'm married and 2 kids, who are also competitive shooters. In fact, I've been married for 21 years as of yesterday. My wife and I are very much into German Shepard Dogs. We have one GSD now ( as well as a Shepard/Border Collie mix) and we'll be adding another one here in a couple months. Our breeder has 2 litters on the way so we're excited about that. Not much else to say except I hope to see y'all at the range. Later.
