I am a Newb here in Northern Virginia who is gearing up at my range for my first IDPA match. First let me say I love this forum and it has really helped fuel
my interest in getting into IDPA.
I have observed several matches, read Brian Enos, read the IDPA rules and shot literally thousands of practice rounds in numerous range drills. My biggest apprehension is the fact that drawing from a holster in SSP will require shooting the first round DA. The DA trigger pull on my new Sig 226 9mm is hernia material. The SA pull is a buttery 4 lbs. vs. something in the double digits for the DA. I want to get the pull weight reduced so the transition from DA to SA is not so radical. I have trained arduously to draw and make that first DA shot count but I'm still struggling to do that with any speed or consistency. Not sure where to turn for reliable trigger work at a fair price. Any suggestions? I've heard that reducing the DA trigger weight can lead to misfires and cycling problems and don't want to risk that happening. Any comments appreciated.
