When the slide fails to lock back when the last shot if fired from the mag, what's going on and the cause????
Pistol - 1911A1 Loaded Springfield 9MM. Wilson Combat Mags and Springfield mags. 115 Grain factory ammo mixed brands ( what ever I can buy).
When I purchased the pistol - would not feed ammo properly, would jam with the cartridge in a up angle about 30* degrees. Also would not lock the slide back on last shot in the mag. Same thing with 6 mags.
The dealer returned the pistol to Springfield, I talked to Dave Williams twice by phone, and once to Mike in the Custom Shop. Recieved the pistol back at the dealer Dec 3 - 09. Loaded 2 mags one with PMC one with Winchester, the dealer Mr Wayne Johnson test fired and it faile to lock back.
It would seem that a hundred year old design, and a gun that has been in production for almost a 100 years would have the bugs worked out and run like a champ.
I have the same pistol in a 45 ACP that din't miss a beat. POed is not the word for how I feel.
