It then goes on to define "weighted grips" as "Any set of grips that weigh more than two (2) oz. over factory standard weight for the model." I don't believe the CZ aluminum grips weigh 2 oz more than the factory rubber grips (I think they weigh less), so the question is: are the CZ grips a "style or material" that is "similar" to the factory grips. Because it says "style or material" instead of "style and material", I assume that if either style or material is similar, the grips are OK. Now, it doesn't seem like the material is similar, but is the "style"? I've got small hands, and I really like the thinner grips, but I don't want to practice with something that isn't legal. Does anyone know if there is a ruling on what "style" and "similar" mean? Thanks

I can't really see the competitive advantage (the rubber grips have a steel insert and seem heavier), but I thought there was some issue in the past with people building up the palmswells on Berettas, and cutting them down on M&Ps, so I wasn't sure. Another guy at my club is thinking about buying a set, but is worried they would be legal and he's be out $75. Does anyone know if there has been any ruling on aluminum grips in general for SSP?

They are of a totally different design. They are meant to make the gun's grip as thin as possible. IMO they should be legal. However they ARE significantly different than the OEM grips. I was asking to see if anyone knew of a ruling at a sanctioned match, or even had run something similar at a big match (like aluminum Hogues on a SIG or Henning's grips Tanfoglio) and passed the equipment check, or something. A guy at my club was thinking of buying a pair, but thinks they are sufficiently different enough to not be legal, and it looks like at least one other poster agrees with him (see two posts earlier). I'm sure you know a lot more about this than I do, but it seems like a legitimate question. Thanks for the suggestion of calling IDPA HQ. I'll give that a try.
