I got a teaser email from Glock today advertising the forthcoming Fourth Generation of Glocks.
Rumor has it as a RTF finish with removable backstraps, I don't know what else. Ted

From the M4 board:
I had an opportunity to handle the new 4th generation Glock 22. These are my observations. New reversible mag release. Larger rectangular face does not appear to be extended. New recoil spring arrangement. It looks like a dual captured spring setup. It will not retrofit older G22s. Frame with texturing similar to current RTF frames, but not as sharp. Frame is higher in the area that contacts the web of your hand. The distance between the trigger and the rear of the frame is noticeably shorter. Same profile as current Glock frames but slightly smaller in the rear. There are two (medium and large) backstraps that go over the rear area of the frame. These are held in by the trigger housing pin. Standard slide serrations. No pics allowed. Not official yet. |

Interesting.
I thought these had been out a while though.

From what I have read, Glock does not call the RTF illustrated here a fourth generation.
The post I quoted and others similar say the gun being promoted as the fourth generation has a different stipple pattern, regular slide pulls, slimmer butt, and interchangeable or overlay backstraps. |

Good to know. The last Glock I had was an early 3rd gen.
I hope the 4th has a better slide release. Something in between the standard and the extended. I didn't like either. |

The Glock rep I talked to hinted that the new slide release was ambidextrous.

They still are unglier than sin. I'm going with the M&P Pro, hopefully with a better trigger than the FS M&P.

I'll dig it up. All I got was essentially a poster with the glock logo and it said, "G4, the next evolution of Glocks".
It was on facebook, not an email. Sorry for the confusion but I'm new to facebook. Ted

http://www.gunsholstersandgear.com/2009/10/21/fourth-generation-glock-adjustable-grips/
.Glock has officially started teasing to the fourth generation of their pistols due in 2010. Calling it the "Next Generation of Perfection," the fourth generation Glock pistols are expected to feature an interchangeable backstrap, or adjustable grip, to accommodate a wide range of hand sizes. Way back on June 9, I broke the information on the adjustable grip Glock after a Glock rep leaked the information to police supplier, GT Distributors at the National Association of Police Equipment Distributors (NAPED) conference. The fourth generation Glocks are rumored to have a textured finish that is not nearly as aggressive as the RTF2 introduced at the 2009 SHOT Show. The new finish is said to be rougher than the prior generations, but easier on the hands and clothes than the RTF2. The RTF2 was found by some people to wear through uniform shirts and other clothing too quickly. |

Well the adjustable grip angle would be a welcome improvement as this was something even die-hard Glock fans have been begging for. If they also fix the whole
out of battery firing thing and machine their barrels with fully supported chambers I might consider buying one. Also, I read that article that Koski posted:
what's the one gripe about the light / laser attachments on the pistols not working right? All I can guess is the frame lacks the rigidity to hold that
lamp / laser so it maintains its zero? Does that guy know what he is talking about or is that just internet trolling?
