Been thinking about this gun.
It's a Springfield 1911 in 9mm she bought in early 2002 or late 2001. She has taken it to 9 nationals, countless state, regional and local matches. I figure a conservative estimate of its use is 45k rounds, with a high estimate of 90k rounds. I never kept records on this gun.
When we first bought it it was finicky. It would only chamber factory ammo and reloads that were chamber checked with the barrel itself. Using a case gauge still had a fair number of rounds that it would not chamber. Hollowpoints were out of the question. Now it feeds anything, from Wolf ammo to match grade Cor-Bon stuff. I proved this at nats when I used this gun to run the chrono 9mm ammo through. I guess it broke in some.
It its life we've broken a slide lock and lost tension on the extractor. It's had a wilson combat slide lock and an Aftec extractor in it for several years now. All the other parts (except the grip panels) are original to the gun.
I asked her about getting a new gun to replace it but she feels it is just beginning to break in.
I know that is not the highest mileage gun out there but I have to say I'm happy with how the gun is holding up.
