Rumor has it that it will be the 2nd week in September in Tulsa, but that is just a rumor.

Hopefully later in the month than 2nd week, if its Tulsa. The first 10 days of September often find Tulsa with either 100+ degree temps or rain (sometimes
lots of it). By late September, the weather usually turns dependably pleasant and moderate, with dry weather (most years). This near perfect shooting weather
continues on until the end of October.

Not only that, but the USPSA Nationals are Sept 12-20 in Vegas so we would lose a lot of the big name shooters by doing it early in the month.

Not only will they lose a lot of big names but they will lose some little ones as well. Going to Vegas for USPSA nats will be cheaper than going to Tulsa for
IDPA nats for many of us mid westerners.

The 2009 Nationals will not be in conflict with the USPSA matches. I talked to Robert Ray about this early this week.

Apparently the Nationals will be held around Sept. 23-27. Unfortunately, this conflicts with our initial planned date for the California State Match (again).
We're looking into moving our match date to eliminate the conflict.

I just saw on Guthsville'swebsite that the nationals is on their event calendat for end of Sept. Anyone heard this too?

They usually come out in the Tactical Journal or should be online in June or July.

Hum. I could have sworn I remembered Alan waiting until the last minute and getting in in 2007 or 2008. One year when it was still in Arkansas he told me I
could get in after the cut off date if I just called HQ and asked. He was looking for a traveling partner.

The reason it was easy to get into the Nationals the last year it was in Arkansas was because it had been there for several years. Before that it was in
Mississippi for several years and before that it was in Missouri. There were lots of opportunities for people in the central states to get in and experience
the Nationals. When it moved to the East Coast it made it accessible for a whole lot of people who had never shot in a National Championship before. The first
year at a new venue brings all the old faithfuls and a whole bunch of new people. I would expect the Tulsa Nationals to fill up pretty fast.

Both nats at Allentown "filled up" in that they were over initial capacity. I know in 07 they did refuse applications after a while. In 08 I think
they were holding out for a handful more before they closed it.
Both went over the 250 they said they were taking. (335 in 07 and 315 in 08 IIRC) I agree with Mike, Tulsa will fill up fast. Ted
