Anyyywho, Thanks for the welcome, and the help!! Yea, im just used to talking in Single Action revolver Jargon. lol. I'm doing quite a bit of reading these days on the subject but it seems like theres Double action and semi auto, as in the trigger pull is the same every time (DAO) and then the semi auto i think its called where the first shot has a longer trigger pull followed by subsequent shorter pulls. I went down to the local sporting goods store to check out some guns, namley just to find something that felt comfortable in my hand (Grips and such) however they were busy and didnt seem like being bothered much. I actually would have much preffered a 5" standard cary size but figured it wouldnt work out well in IDPA with all the concealed holsters required? Espescially since im kind of a bigger guy (6'2" 250 lbs) and i have average size hands for someone of my size. I don't have the means or the knowledge to reload my own, but i was admiring the .40SW size because its got good stopping power should you need it, compared toa 9mm, and its a little more forgiving to shoot then a .45 for action shooting or target shooting for the entire day. As far as location, im in Jefferson township NJ, up by lake hopatcong, Bridgewater is about 45 miles south of me, i'm actually in south eastern PA quite a bit for Work these days, Newtown,NE philly, so i am in that area a fair amount. I have to put in for my new permits, i couldnt make it this thursday, and next thursday night is Turkey day, so unfortunatley i have to wait till the first thursday in december to submit my app for more handgun permits, plus i need a new copy of my Firearms ID card since it got chewed up. so looks like i'll be able to purchase around the end of january, So over the next month or so i'm going to try and really learn and figure out what i like and what is/isn't going to work for me. There aren't to many ranges around here though that let you go and practice or rent/try out guns to see though. So i'll be all over this forum and the internet, plus heading over to the book store for some peridoicals.


As far as guns... I'd reallllly like something with a comfortable grip, i really like the grip on the walthers, but i'm not crazy about the reliabilty i've had with them, plus their so small to me its like trying to shoot a toy gun. Glock's to me are just UGLY and i don't care for the way they look. Although i can see myself maybe coming over that, the Glock 23 seems interesting. I like how the XD doesn't have the thumb saftey on it, although i'm curious how that trigger feels to shoot. It seems everyone is going crazy with good things to say about the new S&W M&P's though as well. Decisons, decisons, lol.
