Dear Senator,
I am writing today to express my displeasure with the ATF and I am hopeful you can bring some pressure to bear against this
agency.
I have been made aware the ATF has sent for bid a small Leatherman pocket tool to be engraved as follows: "ATF-Asset
Forfeiture Always Think Forfeiture". I find this outrageous! Guilty until proven innocent? What
if the Border Patrol had the saying "Always Think Deportation" Or the prosecutor's office "Always think Prison-Time". I
am sure you are aware of the situation involving Idaho's Red Trading Post and the trouble they are having with the AFT. I understand the courageous
senators of Idaho are also withholding approval of Michael Sullivan for the appointment to head the ATF. Your reservations are well placed. The
entire agency needs an overhaul as is evident by this engraving request. If the ATF thinks so little of due process under the law to presuppose guilt and
confiscation of the property of American citizens, then it is time to abolish this agency and start anew.
