I think I got mine off of gunbroker.com. Of course, that wsa a few years ago. I'd think Wally could order one in for you. I'm going to a gunshop this weekend - I'll see if he's got one - if he does, I"ll let you know. I LOVE my springer in 9mm. Hope you find one and that you enjoy it as much as I have mine.

"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms . . . disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes . . . Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man." ~Cesare Beccaria |

Are you running reloads or factory? My 9mm 1911 shoots very accurately with certain handloads. IMO, the 9mm 1911's run best with 125gr range of bullets, loaded out to a moderately long length. Mine likes FMJ's loaded to about 1.135". Your taper crimp should be .375" +/- .0005 with jacketed bullets.
Regarding your Kimber, I'm sure you've already checked, but are the front and rear sights nice and tight? Jack |

Josh, I feel your pain. My Springfield 9mm 1911 was a total mess when I got it (new). I finally sent it to Wilson Combat for repair/rebuild. Now it shoots
like a dream,,,,,,, too bad it started life as a nightmare. I had started to buy a Wilson CQB in 9mm, but decided to go the less expensive route and try a
Springfield. On the website the "loaded" Springfield 9mm Target 1911 looked like a great buy, but like I said, the one I got was a disappointment.
For what I spent for the Springfield, then the cost of Wilson's work, I could have gotten a KZ 9mm to start with. Better yet, I should have spent a little
more and got what I wanted to start with.
All that said, Wilson's had to replace my slide release, replace sights, lap the slide/frame fit, replace mag release, trigger work, work on barrel to slide fit, 30 LPI front strap, bead blast entire pistol, replace bushing, replace mags, etc, etc. Better luck with yours!!!!!!!! |

Stop by your local mom and pop FFL and have them call around to their suppliers. You' be surprised whats sitting in the corner someplace collecting dust
someplace. As far as what to ask them for:
-Dan Wesson advertises a 1911 in 40 S&W, I have yet to actually see one for sale someplace. -Springfield Armory and Wilson Combat both make 9mm 1911s. Springer's production has dropped off sharply in the last 6 months, I'm not sure whats going on in Genesseo, IL but they aren't stocking the warehouses with pistols. I have two Springfield's in 45 and they run very well for me, but reading the above posts it seems like Springfield hasn't figured out how to make a full size 9mm 1911 yet. Wilson is built to order, but you might try calling them directly to see if they have any on the floor. In my experience I have yet to see a 9mm magazine work reliably in a 1911. I read articles and hear online hubub that the Wilson ETM mags supposedly work, but I can't verify that for you personally. If you handload and you want something right now there are a plethora of Colt 1911s in 38 super and Dan Wesson Razorbacks in 10mm that can be found all over the internet, and many warehouses have them in stock. Bud's Gun Shop has a couple of each on stock I believe. Prices are pretty reasonable if you can get a dealer to do a transfer for you. Brass isn't the cheapest for 10mm or 38 Super but once you aquire some and only shoot minor loadings, it will last a long time I would imagine. -Mike |

I have a Kimber Stainless Target II in .38 Super. It's been a 'tack driver' since I bought it new in 2002. (5 rounds into one ragged hole shooting
freestyle at 7 yards and without much effort) I competed with it in ESP at the 2007 Nationals, 2007 Alberta Provincials and at the 2007 Italian/European
Championships.

Josh Lentz wrote:Josh Check the breech face of your gun to see if it has a .40 cal breech face, Kimber was lazy and made a lot of them that way. To get mine to run consistently I had George at EGW gun works weld mine up and re-cut it to 9mm. Accuracy is kind of good enough for our game but I did not like it at the longer shots so I used a Barsto certificate and just got a new barrel for it. I had the best luck loading as long as the chamber would permit. Opps, I just noticed that this was from last year. Necro post

Another make you might want to consider is the STI Trojan. I have had nothing but good luck with my gun. Rock solid with good service abvailable. STI also
imports a model, the Spartan which sells for less. One of the guys at our club has one and it has performed well for him.

Unlike the above poster, I got a springfield Loaded target in 9mm and it ran great right out of the box. I'm totally satisfied with it. I am moving to ESP
next year and this is the gun i got for that division.

I am now the proud owner of a Nighthawk Custom 9mm Dominator.
It didn't come cheap, but it is money well spent. |

buzzdraw wrote:Both of my STIs, Ranger II and Eagle, were all over the paper with handloads. I even sent the Ranger II back to STI to be checked because it shot so horrible, and they sent it back with a clean bill of health. I finally figured out I was pushing them too fast. As I slowed the bullets down, the groups started getting smaller. I ended up with 4.2 grains of HP-38 over a 125 gr lead RN. I don't remember what speed I ended at, but it was enough to make minor, and that's all you need. The optimum charge was a litle different for the Ranger and the Eaglem but I split the difference to shoot what worked good in both guns, just so I wouldn't have to load different batche for each gun. Both are more accurate than I am.. BTW, Alliant's recommendation of 6gr of Power Pistol was WAY too hot.. Bob Socialism is a great idea until the achievers run out of money.

WE have TWO Springfield 9mm 1911, "Loaded" target models. Both shoot great, are very accurate and totally reliable with factory WWB 115gr, and my
handloads that include 124gr Lead Round Nose, 124gr Lead Flat Point and 125gr, Montana Gold HP's. It's my favorite pistol.
