OK OK I will now eat my words.
I realized last night at about 9pm that there is a HUGE difference between shooting Carry loads and down loads in some guns.
We shot at CASAs first ever night match last night. Started at 2pm shooting 4 stages and ended at 6, in the rain.
Ate some food talked about life etc
At about 7:45 we started the night shoot. I saw lots of interesting things I had never seen before from other shooters. But I digress. We had to cut the night match short because we had agreed with the neighbors to quit by 9pm so we lost 2 CoFs.
At about 8:50 we were done. Earlier I had shot a friends newest toy. I have since last night nicknamed it THUMPER. I put 12 rounds through this nice little 4" 44 mag with PMC ammo and honestly it wasnt too bad shooting single action but IT HURT to shoot DA. Nice enough gun the new V type rear with the hi viz front. Now I have owned 5 44 mags in my life and put a few thousand max reload 180, 240 and 300 grainers downrange but NEVER have I lit off anthing like this monster. The 45-70 TC, not even close. The 2" 44 mag shooting max + reloads, NOPE. This thing THUMPS YA!
Shooting a bit off of POA at 30 yds for me. It induced a flinch in that last 6 rounds of DA fire. I kinda remember closing my eyes and JERKING a couple times. I dont know if the sight on that gun will ever be properly regulated or if it will ever be used as is "good enough" for its life. If it was mine I would move POI over left a bit MAYBE.
back to the story. I kinda figured it would be cool to do a Bill Drill with it, even if it HURT just to see the flash and get it on camera/video
Now its pitch black and I cant see much more than the outline of the gun and the outline of the tgt. There is NO FREAKIN WAY I am trying to hold a SUREFIRE and this cannon either so I figure I will point shoot a BD at about 5yds in the dark. AT the BEEP: BOOM, BOOM,BOOM, BOOM,will this ever END,BOOM,GOD this HURTS YANK, BOOM. No 7th click either. There were several shooters that wanted a piece of THUMPER then and all that wanted it got it until the ammo ran out. Dave Garrens responce was "ya gotta hold on to it"
Ken Ws responce shooting a Bill Drill after the first shot I cant put on the forum but it ended in THIS HURTS.
OH OH yea I forgot BIll drill shooting a 44mag with 240gr factory JHP at 5 yds in the dark
2.79 seconds -0 (the last shot I jerked completly into the head.) Shot splits were .37 every time. 5 shots you could cover with your hand.
Today, My hand is bruised and my elbow hurts and I "only" shot 18 rounds through this little monster.
Oh I forgot its the new lightweight 329, it weighs 26 OUNCES.
I think I have probably had enough of it!!!!
