Just saw on another internet mailing list that long time shooter John Luering passed away. For those of us who knew him, he was pretty unforgettable. He was there in the early days of IPSC and had a depth of experience that he shared with a lot of us, including myself.
John had pretty much thrown himself into the Polite Society in the past year or two, and has been a cornerstone of that association. Those that got to participate in his lectures in the recent PS tactical event should consider themselves extremely fortunate, as we won't see a whole lot of folks like him in the future. Not many people can draw on the experiences of being involved with 3 shooting organizations has intimately as he has been.
John was opinionated and told you exactly how he saw things, and rarely sugarcoated it. It sometimes was tough to handle but always interesting. I hope where he is there is plenty of factory ammo to shoot and no Liberals to bother him.
