RACINE IDPA – March 23rd Match
The next Racine IDPA match is coming up this Saturday, March 23rd, 2013. The match is being held indoors at Shooters' Sports Center in Racine. Directions can be found on our web site at http://www.racineidpa.com. Please keep in mind that you cannot attend this match if you attended the march 2nd match, unless you are working the match. In order to allow for our matches to finish earlier than they have in the past, we have started running two matches a month, with Shooters only able to attend one per month unless they're working as an S.O. Both matches in a month use the same stages, and membership in national IDPA is required in order to shoot the first match of the month.
Setup and range preparation will start at 5:30 PM. Registration also begins at 5:30 PM. The Safety Meeting will be at 6:00 PM with shooting to start immediately after. You MUST attend the safety meeting to be able to shoot. If you arrive late and miss the safety meeting you will not be able to shoot. Also, eye and ear protection are required for everyone who goes out into the range.
COURSES OF FIRE
This month features three stages plus a side match. Concealment will be mandatory for some of the stages. Ammo requirements would suggest bringing a minimum of 50 rounds for the match. The side match will require 15 rounds from a BackUp Gun (BUG).
Match fee is $15 for Racine IDPA members, $20 for all non-members.
NEW SHOOTERS
If you are a new shooter, we ask that you do not gear up until we meet to discuss equipment placement (holster and mag carriers). One of our S.O.'s will ask each new shooter to explain the controls (safety, mag release, etc) of their firearm.
SAFETY OFFICERS
We plan on 2 squads, and we need at least 6 people to step forward. SO's will also be responsible for the initial stage set up. If you can SO please email me at idpa_tom@comcast.net and/or post to the match event in the club's Facebook group. With running two matches a month, one of our concerns is having enough S.O.'s at both matches, so please make sure to let us know if you'll be available to S.O. at one or both matches.
MATCH DIRECTOR
Michael Ramps will be the Match Director at this match.
PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Remember, helping with the match will earn entries towards whatever prize guns the club gives away in December 2013. Registration, set up / teardown, acting as an S.O., etc., all count towards earning entries. Though please keep in mind, that for out indoor matches, only certified S.O.'s can work on set-up, as set-up occurs while our safety briefing is being held.
Our current club raffle is for a Taurus Public Defender .410ga/.45 Colt revolver. Tickets are $10 each or 3/$25, with a total of 54 tickets being sold. The drawing will be held as soon as all of the tickets are sold. All Federal, State, and local laws apply with regards to the transfer of this firearm.
The 2013 Member T-shirts are in, so if you ordered a member t-shirt with your club membership, please make sure to ask for it at registration. As a reminder, the club is covering the first $10.00 of the cost, with the balance the responsibility of the member.
If anyone has any suggestions for stages, please send them my way. I'm always interested in other peoples' stage design, and while I can't guarantee they'll get used at any particular match, the odds are good that they'll get used eventually. Please keep in mind that the designs may be modified to keep them IDPA-legal or to fit the range the match is held at.
Come ready to shoot and have some fun.
See you on Saturday.
