Setting up a major match for 350 people is a daunting task.......all we as members ask is that it is done properly. "The best SOs in the country" is certainly debatable....a 4.4% DQ rate is not. You backpatters can blame the shooters all you want....numbers don't lie. Rulebook knowledge with a bad attitude equals a sorry SO(s) along with gotcha stages equals a miserable match for those shooters that run afoul of said SO(s). For example more than just a few shooters ran over 700 seconds on 16 stages......It's demoralizing and just not right. Our sport will suffer for it. As I've stated many times in the past......good stages at any match, especially Nationals, should be those that MM can finish while at the same time are challenging to MAs.

Nationals with Gotcha stages, SOs with bad attitudes, bad food, and a 4.4% DQ rate will ruin our best show.

There's so much wrong with this rant that it's hard to know where to begin.

I'm a "paper sharpshooter" but pretty much shoot like a mediocre marksman.  My score was 573.  My scores for the 17- and 18-stage Nationals in Tulsa were about the same.

Since when is there an absolute average time for a stage or a match that determines whether it's well constructed?

I don't find it demoralizing that I don't shoot as well as Jerry or Bones or X, Y, or Z.  It is what it is.

I agree that good stages should be those that MM can finish.
And so they were.
2 MM DQed.  57 finished.
The other DQs were 1 MA, 3 EX, and 9 SS.

If this is/was such a miserable match, then let shooters vote with their wallets.

Fact is, there was much more misery from people who didn't make the cut to get into the match.
Frank's Carolina Cup fills up early every year because he provides a great place for a match and creative and CHALLENGING stages.

I was not an SO, just a shooter.  Every SO who ran me at this match matched the level of good will, fairness, and competence that I've experienced at the 5 previous Nationals I've shot.  I can't say much for the food...  but I'm a realistic vegetarian and don't expect most matches to serve up tofu flambee.....

I am impressed with the amount of scorn you manage to pack into so few sentences.

Just be glad you didn't waste your time and money shooting this lousy match Pimp
