The current IDPA Rule Book states that sanctioned matches shall be run in accordance with IDPA rules. There is no 180 Rule. Clearly marked 'safe muzzle points' are to be used instead.

In the DQ that is a subject of this post, there was no 'muzzle safe point' marked on the side the gun was swung to. A DQ for violating the 'safe muzzle points' is not upheld by the Rule Book in this case, because there was no 'safe muzzle point marked'.

If the shooter swung their gun so far as to sweep other competitors... then the matter is quite a bit different. But, that point has not been raised. Just what happened has not truly been yet stated.

It might well be just another case of IDPA rules being enforced in an arbitrary & capricious manner. It wouldn't be the first time.... it's just a shame it had to occur at a National Championship. Those who spent the money and invested the time to be there, and compete on equal footing, should expect better of an International organization.
