Chris,
Not sure if I would agree with you. When a malfunction is "a malfunction" has already been debated. Don't believe that the issue was discussed that it isn't a malfunction if there is still ammo available. With this logic....a gun jam with a spent casing in a semi-auto would be the same as a non-fired round in a revolver (as long as there is ammo available?). Respectfully....with your example, shooter would have to clear the problem (easier with revolver-more difficult with semi-auto) in both cases and keep going BECAUSE they had ammo on their belt? Semi-auto would/could declare they are done and score out with points down, FTN and PE for not firing the required rounds. A revolver would get a FTDR because it is a easier "malfunction" to clear.

In the case discussed, if there were no primer strike...yep FTDR might apply as this is not a malfunction. Primer strike = malfunction ....PE and points down...IMO

As a "sanctioned regional and state SO and MD", I personally don't think this would be a FTDR by the current rulebook and clarification, but rather a PE....but that is why we discuss these things. Happy

Garry
