Thanks for the kind words about my crew, Bob. The entire crew hustled their collective buns off on those stages.

Both of the competitors that received the FTDR's handled the penalty with grace - and as the CSO, I truly thank them for being gentlemen. The first gent apparently is one of the 80% (give or take) that is "learning the rulebook one penalty at a time", not realizing that not firing the last shot was a big no-no. He shrugged his shoulders after I explained it to him - "aw, crud...." and went back with the rest of the squad after the stage was scored. No drama, just a 'yep, I earned it' and back to shooting the next stage.

The second competitor was in disagreement about it, but discussed it (twice) like a gentleman with me. On my suggestion he checked with Frank on the ruling. After running it by and discussion the MD, the decision stood. The competitor came back the following day to see me after he finished shooting. He extended his hand to shake mine, and said "I looked up the rule last night - you were right....it was the right call". This chap is a class act - I wish more were like him.

The DQ's were for sweeping the arm/hand while opening the second and third doors. Like the buzzer being the 'mind eraser', even after a very graphic and straightforward reminder during the walkthrough, the heat of competition sometimes over-rode technique and the muzzle crossed flesh and bone. I hate DQ's, but hate someone getting hurt even more.

Despite the above, it was a great week with great competitors coming through the bays. Next year can't come soon enough.....
