I am now excited to compete with my new Browning Hi Power. I have some questions regarding modifications:     :::::::    Kevin
The Hi Power is sweet and has been around since roughly 1935.  It was likely the most popular handgun in the Free World (outside of the USA where we like the 1911) until about the end of the Cold War.  Lots of people have disconnected the magazine disconnect, and Cylinder & Slide's wide trigger is popular.

Steve Camp has passed on, but his website is still here, with a lot of info on this pistol.  Here are a couple of links, FYI.

There is a lot of info on this website, and Mr Camp's books are worth the price.

For what it is worth, I personally prefer the current ambi thumb safety on Hi Powers, but a single sided thumb safety has worked well around the world forever and I'm not against them.  I'd say do what you want; other people will say an ambi thumb safety is mandatory.

It is your pistol, do what works for you.

Best and congrats on your pistol.

Here is one Hi Power that has done fine for both carry and in ESP.  Trijicons and thin Navridex grips are the only mods.  The mag disconnect remains due to the rules I carry under.
