I'm keeping my eye on that shim for the possibility of that shifting you mentioned.  I didn't plan on using a shim and I didn't have any misfires with the Wolf spring, as it came, using Federal primers, but the firing pin hits on Winchester and CCI primers were so light as to barely leave an indent.  That caused concern that I may even get some light hits with the Federals in a match so I either had to put the stock spring back in or shim the Wolf spring.  The Wolf is still much lighter and smoother than the stock spring even with the shim.  I was having trouble with the longer, tighter shots with the stock spring.  Just cranking them off at 10 yards and under was fine, but those 20+ yard and maybe with a NT or hard cover to get around was a problem with that long hard pull and trying to maintain good sight alignment.  The reduced power spring makes a big difference there.  I can only imagine how great a full action job by one of our best revolver smiths would be, but I don't have the $..but could afford the $20.00 spring kit

Just to add.. I did try lighter rebound springs, too.  I didn't like the feel and even tied up the action with the 13 pound rebound spring.  I like the positive rebound of the stock rebound spring.
