Do whatever it takes. Turn your head, turn your body part way, turn your body all the way. I don't think the particulars aren't terribly important so long as you get the wider view and awareness. Lots of "correct" ways I'd imagine.
+1 to that! At least, in Real Life, as opposed to a pistol match with a peanut gallery and a couple of SOs (none of which would enjoy being swept). In a match, it's a DQ. In Real Life (that should be two kittens on my score sheet!) it's smart. Whether you accomplsih that with the 'gun to the ground'... or the Charlie's Angels Praying Mantis position... or a tight Guardian Position (my favorite!) is immaterial. Ask any military combat veteran and they'll tell you that the enemy they feared most was the one they didn't see. Seeing as much as you can is a Good Thing!
