Al,
FYI... at a Sanctioned Match the SOs do not shoot and SO on the same day like they do in a club match. SOing and shooting the same day is hard. I know because I do it once or twice a month at my clubs. But, at a sanctioned match they shoot the day before the competitors... generally in smaller groups... and normally get a more thorough and detailed walk through on the stage (they have to know the stage well in order to SO it the next day) than the competitors do. When the competitors show up the next day, the SOs are done shooting and are now just running the stages. It does involve an extra day on site, but they're not shooting and SOing the competitors at the same time.

I take nothing away from the SOs, and I see no reason why a Team SO should not earn extra points for the Team. In this match two of the three teams had one SO listed on their Team roster before the match, and the same SO remained listed during the first Team scoring attempt after the match was shot. In the second and final scoring attempt one Team changed it's team roster (several days after the match) to make every team member SO or Staff and gain an extra 8 points. That raised my eyebrows a bit.
