Gun
Must be packed in a lockable hard case. You can have multiple guns in one hard case, I have a Pelican case that my primary and back-up gun travel in. This case must be able to fit inside your checked baggage.

Ammo
Ammo must be packed in either factory boxes or plastice storage cases, it can not be loosely packed. Most airlines limit the amout of ammo you can fly with(appox 11lbs). Make sure that you tape the ammo boxes shut. If they open up and the ammo spills out you will be spending a lot of extra time with security.

If you are traveling to big(high round count match) sometimes it is better to ship most of your ammo. Still take 200+ rounds with you on the flight just in case your ammo gets lost. This will allow you to compete for at least one day, whil you sort out your lost ammo.

Range Bag, Holster, other equipment.
I have several large duffle style bags that I put all of my gear into.
