One other consideration... although a bit OT to Ken's original discussion of a purely local match....

The "I" in IDPA stands for ????

Taking a USPSA RO class earlier this year, our instructor beat into us the need to use the range commands verbatim as they are written in the rulebook because some international shooters know only enough English to recognize those commands. I know... far-fetched for a local match. But after that class, I've become attuned to how many deviations from 'official' IDPA or USPSA range commands I hear at matches. EXCEPT... watching a DVD of the Limited 'super squad' at the 2005 USPSA Nationals - every range command I hear is exactly according to the rule book.

We don't get a lot of furriners shooting at our club... but people do show up from other parts of the state. Part of what makes it IDPA is that there's a reasonable consistency in how the rules are interpreted and applied. Or seems to to this old blonde, anyways.....
