Most of the advancements in manufacture have been put to cutting costs, not improving the product for the paying customer.
CAD-CAM is turning out some very well made big pieces like frames, slides, and barrels, but when they start messing with the design, it is not much help.
MIM has gotten a bad rap for the small parts. Maybe if we got aerospace quality MIM, it would be ok, but the real driving force is a 50 cent sear to replace a $2 part.

I think I would try a new slide stop. The one Wilson ETM 9mm magazine I have will lift the slide stop in both my guns.
