Well, in the first place, building the 1911 design in 9mm Luger involves some compromises and tradeoffs to handle the short tapered cartridges. Springfield compounded the problem with a steep integral ramp barrel. They probably softened the angle a bit when they tinkered with it to get it to feed. I know that is what it took with my Springfield. The Colt with standard barrel got no attention beyond a polish of the factory ramps.

I don't know which Springfield and Wilson magazines you have that are not slide stopping. My two Springfield-Metalform-Leatham Front Ramp magazines do OK, as does the one Wilson ETM 9mm I have. But I have had to rebuild the Metalform 10-rounders that I thought would be The Thing To Have for IDPA ESP because their short flat followers with rear spacer in the tube got to tipping in the tube enough to not pick up the slide stop.

I have always liked the Metalform 9-round .38 Super magazine with their fully guided rounded follower. They feed 9mms in spite of the shorter OAL and are very positive on the slide stop. A shooter in our club found them to be the cure for his Kimber 9mm. If you were nearby, I would let you try mine in your gun.
