I have SO'd many many times. Been MD at CT State and like to be helpful with the sport. I'm a guy you can call with little notice and I'll help.
I do believe in this" if you pay me well you can treat me like crap, if you pay me like crap you can treat me well."
I have been treated better.
2 years ago my friend Craig Buckland a/k/a Bones was MD at CT State and needed last minute help, a few of us from Sprague Rod & Gun Club went and SO'd in pouring rain. It was still fun and a challenge to write on score sheets soaked and tearing. We laughed a lot and at the end we were thanked again and Craig went out of his way to make sure we all got a cool flashlight that I use all the time.
Things at S&W are not the same as years past. It may be any number of things, my guess is belt tightening and bottom line. I'm not sure that it is the right way to improve the bottom line because when I went to my first S&W match 7 or 8 years ago I was so impressed I decided that my future guns would be S&W if possible. I have bought 1-2 a year ever since.
The match is still great and I'm sure it will fill up as it always has but, I doubt the new people who shoot it will walk away feeling the way those of us who were lucky enough to shoot it in the past did.
As far as being treated better, I was ok with pizza but a salad would have been nice. And I wasn't too impressed with Pete telling the SO's to "just tape and get out of the way" on Sunday when the top shooters were there. They were all very nice to me but I think Pete was stressed out, oh well I get stressed too.
