Deb,

This past S&W indoor NATS was my first time SOing at a major match. When I volunteered to SO, I expected nothing in return, to me that's what volunteering is, I did get many thank-yous from the shooters and the S&W staff, and I did get to shoot a major match for freeimage. I also got a gift bag with nice stuff worth some bucks. So I guess my expectations were different than yours.

I would say that the hallmark of a good organization is to take feedback, evaluate the benefit (cost) of changes and implement the most cost effective (Bang for the Buck, I had to say it) changes possible while keeping the event viable. While we are all die hard shooters, I doubt we (the IDPA shooters) make up a big part of the S&W bottom line from an income standpoint. I would say S&W sees this as a PR event and then too they must consider the ROI.

So from a free market standpoint they will either thrive and move to the top of the match heap from a reputation standpoint or they will be judged as so-so and may not be able to fill all the open shooting spots/SO positions. I think there were some open shooting positions this year vice a waiting list, does that mean something?

Just my thoughts,

David the new guy.
