Well, I'm not Ross...but I've settled on grease from a syringe for the slide rails and locking lugs. Other stuff works okay if you lube the gun every day, but the grease stays where you put it. In Louisiana, you don't have to worry about cold weather problems ;) , but the heat helps thin stuff run out of the rails, and the grease stays put. This is more important for carry guns than guns used only at the range.

OTOH, for round guns I use Break-Free. The nooks and crannies seem to help hold lube.
