I probably see more Kydex than leather at matches but, like Jay, I prefer leather. I've shot competitively with both. Leather isn't rigid and will conform to your body making it more comfortable. I see little or no difference in the speed of presentation of a weapon between the two materials. Don't know if this is important (and there is some debate about it) but Kydex, being harder, is also a little harder on the gun's finish. A few nice things about Kydex is it can get wet (soaked for that matter) and it will still retain its shape and if it gets dirty then simply rinse it off with a garden hose. Also with many of the Kydex hosters, you can easily change the cant of the holster. So if you wanted a straight up and down for competition and a muzzle rear cant for carry, then one holster will do it all.

As Jay said, Galco's are nice holsters for the money. Over the years I've collected a drawer full of leather holsters. My most used competition one is this one: http://www.andrewsleather.com/traditional.htm and then navigate to his "hybrid saddle", the one with no thumbsnap.

If you happen to shoot a CZ 75B, and lean towards getting Kydex, be aware that the Comp Tac International model slightly pushes against the magazine release button. If you push the slightest amount inward on the draw, that is just enough to release the magazine. It took me about half a match to figure out why my super reliable CZ was releasing magazines every now and then. The good news is a Dremel and about 5 minutes takes care of the problem.
