But I never claimed the rule book was incorrect. My original post was one possible way to write the rules so that less was up for interpretation and the rule would be more uniformly enforced across the sport. I alluded earlier I am also an engineer with a moderate amount of machine experience. My example was thus spun that way. The actually precision and accuracy in my example are just numbers to fill in blanks. The important part is the fact that you have given a specification AND a standard way to measure. You could specify using a playskool rulers for all it matter so long as we all use a playskool rulers.

It still seems unnecessary to specify barrel length if the gun has to fit in a box. The box eliminates the need for barrel length specification and for a standard way to measure the barrel.
