Since this technique does not modify the gun in any way and it can be removed, it is legal in SSP.

For those of you who have considered stippling your polymer frame pistols, but did not want to because it would move you into ESP, you should consider Tacti-Grips. This is a really great idea. It works better than stippling and 10 times better than skateboard tape. I know
about 20 people who have had Brett enhance their Glocks and Sigs using this technique. They all swear by it. I had him do my SA 1911 grip panels + front strap
and the results are better than 30 lpi checkering. You can see pics of my gun on the Springfield page.

I concur with Capel's assessment. Brett has done three of my Glocks. It works better than my Robar guns for IDPA.

Capel, everyone;
Has anyone asked HQ whether they think this is an allowed modification for guns in SSP? It isn't clear to me from reading the rulebook. It isn't skateboard tape, and it isn't removable grip panels either. In fact I'm not quite sure what it is. I don't have a horse in this race since I shoot CDP, just wondering out loud. Ken Reed |

I've talked to a lot of people including MD's, AC's and experienced SO's and we all agree that it is closer to skateboard tape than anything.
Since it can be removed, you have not modified the gun. It is thinner than skateboard tape, but has more traction. Think of it as spray-on skateboard tape.
Don't let the micro-photographs throw you off.

Ill send a blue gun to HQ for the signoff, and regardless of the outcome- they are the best grip surface on the market! (IMHO)

So this stuff is applied like an adhesive, similar to rhino-liner or line-x, right? Could you really articulate that this is a non-permanent modification in
the same way that skateboard tape and inner-tube hose is?

yes, i could- it takes more to remove than either one of those examples, but the end result is the same- with glocks the surface is like new-

So how do you remove it?

I don't have a dog in the hunt either because I shoot a STI, but I fail to see much difference if any between that and stippling a Glock frame with a wood
burner..
Bob Socialism is a great idea until the achievers run out of money.

Steve,
They say great minds think alike. Apparently ours do too! This process does not seem in the same league of putting on a different grip panel or back strap. Don't get me wrong, I might be interested in this treatment for my CDP Glock, especially if they could match it up with my camo finish. But I wouldn't speculate that it would be allowed into SSP. Well guys, let HQ decide if it is legal. There is nothing in the rule book to say it's not legal, but it is pretty revolutionary. It won't turn you
into a National champ, but it does give you a better grip. IMO this enhancement won't start an equipment race anymore than fibre optic front sights and
they are legal in SSP. I would recommend this for any carry gun, especially if you are concerned about retention.
Ken, I know Brett can do this in just about any color, maybe even camo pattern. Send him a pic and see what he says.

It might be great, but it certainly is not cheap. I can't find any reference on the website about pricing, but 2 X round trip firearm overnight freight
alone will run you in the $120 range.

What ever happened with this? Did HQ give it the OK to be used????
