I want to have a spare gun in the range bag in case I have a failure during a match. Does it have to be exactly the same as the one I started the match with? For example, if I use an STI Trojan 5.0 9mm and it breaks, can I pull a Kimber Tactical Pro II 9mm or a Para LTC 9mm out of the range bag and finish the match or would this be against the rules since the original gun is a 5" 1911 and the other guns are 4" 1911's? I would think logically that as long as they were both 1911 pattern guns in the same caliber and the same capacity and both legal for the division you are competing in, it shouldn't matter, but I want to make sure. I just hate to spend the money on two identical guns if I can get a little variety and still use it as a backup. ******************** Regret: It hurts to admit when you've made mistakes, but when they're big enough, the pain only lasts a second.

It is the "same type, action, and caliber". Slide and barrel length is not a consideration as long as the pistol is legal in the division you're shooting (i.e. fits in the box). C 12. In any single contest, a shooter must use the same pistol in all stages of the contest. If the pistol he started with becomes unserviceable during the contest, he may use another pistol of the same type, action, and caliber. Such a shooter may resume the contest at the next scheduled "start signal", but previous stages may not be re-shot. For example if a shooter starts with a Glock 34 and the gun breaks, the shooter may finish with another Glock 34, a Glock 17, a Glock 19 or a Glock 26. (All of these are 9mm and of the same action and type.) Steve J A17557

I'm getting a second 1911 so I'll have two for CDP but am thinking about a backup for ESP. Thanks, Mark
