Have noticed more and more M&P's, and have been impressed with the few rounds I have put through them.
I finally picked up a 9 Pro last weekend, and just sent off the rebate to get my two magazines.
Now I need a holster.
So, what do you think?

Recommendations for holster for M&P 9 Pro in SSP |

Being typically a CDP shooter I have been thinking about getting into SSP for a while. Learned long ago not to use my G17 in competition.

Blade Tech holters and two single mag pouches, works well for my 5in M&P.

Fobus E2 Paddle holster and double mag pouch. Works for me.

I'm in the Comp-Tac fanclub. It sat on my hip better than the Blade-tech belt holster. For some reason, on me, the bladetech canted inward a little at the
top, whereas the Comp-Tac rode straight up.
Off-topic slightly, why did you learn long ago not to use your G17 in competition? |

Thanks for the recommendations. I will see what I can find.
Well, Rob, I shot the 17 in a local match a couple of years ago. It was not going well. One stage had the Texas-Star. I cleared the star with my 31st shot, to the amusement of the gallery. I have a shooting "buddy" who still likes to bring that up. I have shot other local matches with it, (after leaving it in the bag for a year), and did OK. Glocks are fine guns, lest I offend any of the cult members, but they do not fit me well. They are not a natural pointing gun for me. And that trigger.... I got an XD when they first came out, and the first time I ever fired it was in a match. I now have three of them. But that's ESP. Then the M&P's came out. They have inundated the sport around here. Aside from the hardcore Glock guys, I am one of the last to get one. A fellow XD shooter got his M&P a few months ago, and has done well with it. So, when I saw the Pro at the gun show, and it was the only one, I had to go for it. -Rob |

I see.
For SSP, I went from SIG, to Glock, back to SIG, now to the M&P. Its the first one that will be shot in more than one season. I know what you mean about the Glock trigger. You can easily make em light, but crisp is another story. |

I'm still very new to the IDPA, but I've carried for years. As RobMoore said, the Comp-Tac is hard to beat, from every standpoint. I have four, and
can't see buying anything else.I hope you really like your S&W Pro, because I just ordered one...

I use a Fobus paddle holster with my M&P's and have been well pleased.

All my holsters to date are Blade-Tec but will likley try Comp-Tac when I get a CZ75B. The Blade Tec is an excellent choice and works well with my M&P. Not
sure you can go wrong with either.

I ordered a Fobus a few days ago. It was cheap, available, and a buddy has one and likes it. I wanted to get something before next Sunday's match. I
ordered from Midway USA Thursday morning, and it came yesterday, (Saturday)! Looks like it will work, but I'm going to keep looking. My favorite for the XD
is a Safariland, and I use leather for my 1911's.
I finally got a few rounds through the Pro, and so far, am very pleased. I will be using it next Sunday for an IDPA match. But looks like I am stuck with two magazines for a while. S&W has told me 10 - 12 weeks, and there are none to be found. Should be ok though, I learned from my revolver days not to throw a lot of extra rounds. Rob |

Try to find that extra mag. Two mags can be a huge disadvantage and hurt your score quite a bit. Thinking back to last weekend's match, there were 2 stages
where 3 mags were necessary.

Ideally, have 5 or 6 mags.

I shot my first match with the M&P Pro last Sunday, and did have a loaner mag, but never actually needed it. I did find someone who is supposed to sell me
two mags this Sunday,($60), and I when get my 2 from S&W that will give my the six. Should get me through.
I had a good match, and am extremely happy with the new gun. And the Fobus worked out very well. Here's a video from the match: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VCF2mhDFJvc I'm the first shooter on the video. Rob |

I got a Safariland 567 for mine, the one that fits a Glock 17. It may be quite a wile before I use it in a match though.

Rob-If you didn't get your mags, I just ordered one for my Pro at http://www.botachtactical.com. $25 plus shipping = $37 and change. Not a bad price, considering I couldn't find one
ANYWHERE else.

Steve, I did get the two mags so I am good, but thanks for the info.
I shot my first match with the medium grip insert. It really felt better to me. But I took my son to the range last week so he could shoot the G17 he got for Christmas. (Figured I did not need it anymore.) I experimented with the inserts and found the large one, which felt too big, seemed to work better for me. The gun seemed to point better. I shot Sunday with the large insert, and never noticed it. Will leave the large one in for the time being. -Rob |

Ontrack, have they shipped yet? I ordered a few from them, since they were the only ones showing in-stock, till a week later when I asked for some confirmation
on the order and was THEN told they were backordered (either sept or oct time period). I cancelled the order and found them somewhere else. If you can't be
bothered to keep your website up to date on out-of-stock items, at least email your customers to tell them.

Rob-they shipped mine the day I ordered, and, according to UPS tracking, will be here on Wednesday. I agree with you 100% on keeping the website up to date. I had never ordered from them before (actually I had never heard of them until I searched for M&P mags), but hopefully it will turn out OK. Steve |
