Blade-Tech and a N-Frame |
Lead | |
|
Does anyone have any experience using a Blade-Tech OWB ( stingray) for their N-Frame. I've used one for my 1911 for a couple of years and loved it. Just got one for the JM625 and it works great-but!- I'm afraid it may not be IDPA legal. There are no gaps in the belt to backpiece or backpiece to holster. Due to the size of the cylinder there is a significant gap between me and the grip. The holster is mounted square to the backpiece instead of being angled to the rear to pull the butt of the gun in. Just don't want to find out to late that it won't pass.

I used that exact combination of a SRB Blade-Tech and a JM625 last year with no problems st 5 sanctioned matches. With the diameter of the 625 cylinder it just has to stick out a little. Unless you have a dunlap belly an OWB holster will likely give you more than the 3/4". I have found that the SO's have enough common sense to figure it out. Last I knew JM himself was using a Blade-Tech. I haven't heard of any match directors giving Jerry a hard time over his holster.

I just ordered a 625 Jerry myself and the only kydex holster I have seen without question that will pass is the R4 made by Talon Tactical. All my IDPA holsters
are made by them and they will hug you tight! Give Mike Benedict a call, I have been more then satisfied with his stuff, cheaper then bladetech too.

The Blade-Tech is much larger than it needs to be. I have yet to find a better revolver holster than TKW. I use them exclusively in IDPA and I know Curt
Nichols uses them as well.

I agree with Craig, the bladetech is a lot bigger than it has to be. I use a Comp-tac locking paddle for my N frame and for my L frame (IDPA legal). It's
rock solid and uses minimal material around the gun.
For plate matches though, I do use a blade-tech with the stingray belt attachment AND the drop/offset attachment with a 5" N frame. It's not legal for IDPA but it sure is fast. Gary Jones |

Thanks guys, I bought a Talon Tactical and it works just fine. Pulls the butt of the gun in and a whole less kydex than the Blade-Tech. The Blade-Tech is a
fast holster and might work out just fine if I can find some ICORE to shoot.

I prefer Comp-Tac's CTAC for my N frames. They draw lightning fast and believe it or not their disappear in my medium-build frame with just a loose fitting
untucked polo over it.

My stingray is a lightning and the same says andrea, my shooting buddy. Can't say for CompTac.

On my blade tech I was more than 3/4", I went with another brand. Ted
