Pennsylvania is starting to put them in everywhere - we've had three put in the "bad accident intersections" over the last year.

However, PennDot in their infinite wisdom didn't figure out that the designs submitted would only accomodate a 45' tractor trailer on one of the
circles, not the current 53' behemoth trailers that the local paper company runs. Install, watch the curbing be chewed up, tear up and re-engineer the
thing at taxpayer expense.

Traffic circles kick ass, when applied correctly. They're coming on strong in UT, and I'm glad. Much better flow than a 4/5 way stop.

I got kicked off before I finished. If you want to see a disaster of hopeychange proportions, see when they take a circle and redo it so they can put red
lights into. It's a real nightmare.

Traffic circles are the norm in Europe. They allow the traffic to flow faster and smoother than traffic lights.
Yes there is a learning curve to them, but once you have them mastered they are a breeze.

down south we refer to these as "roundabouts"...they are used a lot overseas and are engineered well...according to my father in law, some in saudi
arabia may be as big as 1/2 mile across...around here it is just a way for our street dept to think they are smart and screw up traffic...they installed one at
the end of our road and my GMC 2500 crew cab pulling a boat does not go around it well...so i just go the wrong way to get to my street.

the cars themselves.
