I don't get too involved with politics but I will stand by the statements about the current administration as in my opinion said administration stands against all IDPA , Capitalism, and the Second Amendment stands for.

You do not have to agree with me (and I suspect you would disagree with me if I was giving out $20 bills) , so feel free to debate it with me via a PM.

Your reply is to the point and well considered, for the most part.

I will make only two comments.

1-It doesn't really seem to be closed/locked/stopped or ended. I would hate to think Ken has the last word every time .

2-I don't personally believe that Sport, Politics or Religion should overlap. It is my view, but it comes from the perspective that when it does, it requires two or three different universes of interests and beliefs align. It...

Hello All,

As much as I did not like some of the banter in this thread it did not fully violate the board rules so I let it go. Besides, I do feel that part of your membership dues is a license to complain, so I let people run with that for a while. But now the discussion has gone off topic some and after this post I am going to go ahead and lock the thread.

I do not know what IDPA's financials are. As a non board member, I have no means to get that information....

Well, the thing for me and a lot of people is that you end up spending a lot on memberships for these various clubs/organizations (NRA, USPSA, IDPA, local range memberships, hunting clubs and conservation groups, etc.) and it adds up. You have to look at each and determine what you're getting for that money. It's a valid question and...

Ken you haven't come close to pissing me off and I invited correction of any material fact. My point was primarily to finances. I said, "I believe HQ is entirely seperate from the National event, other than providing an office and logistical support."

I have SO'd a lot of sanctioned matches and I know the lunches were covered, but did not know that they provided the hotel rm. for the staff also.

You see, maybe if there was more info out there, there wouldn't be such confusion?? Thanks again for the info Bob. Maybe one day I'll be able to go to the Nationals?? But until that little apple tree out back starts flowering $100 bills, it might be a little while off.

Craig N-Nationals and other MAJOR major matches, pay for lodging for out of town SOs. They also provide lunch and match swag for the SOs. SOs also shoot for free. Consequently, getting an SO slot for a MAJOR major requires strong experience and strong recommendations. That is as it should be.

Too many "major" matches treat SOs poorly, do not pay for hotel rooms, and generally abuse the volunteer help. The notion that an SO would have to pay to shoot a match is astounding...

I am about to renew my membership and am wondering what the dues really pay for.

I'd like to start by saying that I would not trade the freinds I have met through IDPA for anything, That is not the focus of my gripe.

I get a quarterly magazine, written largely by member submissions, and nothing else.
A poorly written rule book that dates 2005,
A really lousy website.
No Forum,
No real match support, other than when the AC comes to the match, though...
