Classification

We recently aquired an older IDPA shooter who at one time was classified as an expert. Over the years his movement, has with lots of us, have become slower.
At the last classification he shoot it was not Expert. But I understand that a shooter can not go back or down in classification, is that correct? Need to
know before I post his classification score and if he can not go back or down how do I post new scores for his classification shoot. Thanks,

Loren,

I know several shooters who due to the passage of time cannot shoot up to their classification anymore. Most of them would kick me pretty hard if I suggested
they try to lower their classification. A little bit of unsolicited advice: if the shooter in question is not troubled by the discrepancy, then I would not
be.

Otherwise, a call to your area coordinator would be the first step.

Lenny,

He can shoot Master if he wants to. It was his question that I was asking for him. No he won't be shooting any major matches anymore. He is very happy to
be teaching us younger guys, like I am younger at 65, some of the expertise he has learned over the years. We, our club, is most happy to have him out shooting
again with us.

Loren, does it really matter what his classification card says? Is he shooting major matches? Sounds that this gent is happy just to be out shooting, I know I
would be, heck make him a master and he does not have to worry about the classifier at all.

Thanks Steve,

I will have him contact HQ. Ain't no way ever this old grand man will shoot expert again. He uses a walker now. But he sure can give you pointers on how to
do it better and faster, he just don't move that fast anymore.

Shooters may not go down in classification except for permanent physical disability or for other irrevocable reasons. IDPA HQ will determine this.

So, he stays EX unless HQ specifically says otherwise.
