H&K shooter but which is best for IDPA?

H&K shooter but which is best for IDPA?

I have the P7M8, P7M13, HK45, and a Tactical .45.
The P7M8 is buy far the best handgun I've ever owned. BUT is it competitive with you guys?

So I your experience have you seen HK's do well in IDPA?

Or should I go and get a Springfield 1911 .45 and just Boom! for nostalgia sake?

New to IDPA and would like recommendations on cover clothing. Ive seen shirts, vests and jackets worn. Ild be shooting in 100* temps down to 40* temps.

Opinion on Range Bag

I want to buy a range bag for my son and I to transport all of our gear to matches. What size bag would you recommend? Would you recommend us each having our own? I have never been to a shoot so I am just not sure of the procedures. I would think two bags would be better than one. Any brand or model in particular, hopefully not to expensive, lol!!

moonclips for a 686

Ok im thinking of having one of my 686 mooncliped but i keep hearing that it not a good thing to do . Some people tell me that using speedloaders will be faster because the 38cal cases are long and dont hold stiff in the moonclips which makes them harder to reload id like to hear from some of you about this . Moonclip or not to moonclip and just stay with speedloaders

Suggestions for a holster belt

New to IDPA and looking into holsters and belts. Im settled on Comp-Tac holsters due to their support of IDPA. Need some recommendations on belts as I dont know what I need but that the belt is real important. I dont mind spending once for quality equiptment.....as long as its in my wife's budget.... I would think I should go as wide as I can as I can get pants with wide belt loops if I need to. Im I correct on that?

Electronic Score Keeping

Is anybody using electronic scoring? I noticed on benos site that some USPSA clubs have gone to using palms for scoring but I haven't seen anything about IDPA. The wife and I shoot and do the stats for a club that gets some 70+ shooters each month. We can input the data and get the scores posted on the club web site by noon the next day but it would be great if we could post results at the match as soon as it's over.

grip tape or stippled job

The factory texture is lacking on my GP6 I'm not sure if grip tape will stick well to the textured suffice. To stippled job or not to stippled that is the ?. what do you guy-n-girls think? I want some thing work well that don't look like a hatchet job. Erik R

Question for people shooting 2 different gun's

I was practicing my draw with my 1911 for CDP about a hour and then switched to my ESP XDm. Well when I was practicing with my XDm I found myself trying to deactivate the thumb safety but there isn't one. . Do you get confused? Do you tend to switch guns for different match's or stick with one gun through the year?

I have several of this mag pouch from the MP-Store.com. These are sold as IDPA approved but I want to get your thoughts regarding the rule that states that the "front" of the magazine must be covered. I think this pouch meets the criteria...what do you think?

I have loaded rifle ammo for a good decade just not pistol. I have made my mind up I want to give IDPA a shot so I've ordered a new STI GP6 in 9mm. I plan to cast my own bullets and I need a good powder as well I prefer a good ball powder I use Dillon XL 650 for production and a RCBS Rockchucker for development. any suggestions?

M&P ESP or SSP?

Do M&P pistols compete in SSP or ESP? M&P pistols appear to have a drop sear just like an XD? Trigger pull, sear drops, stiker releases. I know that is what puts the XD in ESP. Take a look at this video. There is one for the XD there below it. Looks the same to me...as I see neither pistol "cocking" the striker. All cocking done with the slide action. Interesting....

S&W Model 19 in 9mm

I'm new to the forum and I've been looking around, but I haven't seen this covered. I recently purchased a Model 19 with a 2 1/2" barrel and am considering getting a cylinder converted to 9mm for use with moon clips in ESR. Before I go to the expense of the conversion, I want to make sure this is IDPA legal. Thanks.
