Shedding weight on a TRP

Looking to shed weight on a TRP so I can compete in CDP. SA say's it weighs 42oz but doen't say with a mag. Any ideas? I don't want to lose the FLGR. Thanks for any info.

Is anyone using one? If so do I need to buy extention plates for my mags and will it protrude alittle but still fit in the IDPA box? Sorry if this is a odd question. Thanks for any help.

Lead Removeal

Well Ive been shooting Idpa since the spring . So Ive gone thru a good supply of lead bullets . Well gettinmg the lead out of my barrel has always been a pain in the hinder until I tryed this ...........50/50 mix of white vinegear / hydrogen poroxide . Pour it into the barrel ,it will bubble wait a few minutes do it again until it stops bubbleing and all the lead will be gone ...............I only do this on my stainless barreled 1911 ..........after I'm done with that I get very hot...

Taurus 24/7 oss

Has anyone out there used or seen someone use a taurus 24/7 oss in cdp? If so what were your impresions? I have been considering a .45 for a while and the taurus is in a race against the G21sf for my money. Any opinions?

At fist I need to say that my English isn´t wery good, so bare with me.. I live in Finland and English is my third language..

I know that there are many topics about that witch .45 is good for beginner and so on.. But I wanna make a new one.

I'm thinking of buying new pistol mainly for IDPA and first choice could be some 1911.
I allready have 9mm CZ Shadow, but it needs some custom work to get IDPA legal, so I'm told... weight reduction and so on..

Power Factor Question

I am shooting a 3-inch 1911 at the state match. I cannot find my rule book to save my life or I would not be asking this. Anyhoo, when chronographing the load, does it have to make power factor from my 3-inch gun, or just from a standard 5-inch gun? Thanks much.

My gun and I are both on a diet, the gun is doing better than me. Should I try to get it to loose a little more or is this good enough?

well guys shoot my third match last sat. and I came in 2nd in CDP and finished 12th overall out of 30 shooters . Im really enjoying IDPA shooting just need to stop makeing stuip mistakes and maybe slow down a tad and keep my accuracy up , my very 1st match I shot 0 down and last wk I was 32 pionts down , I know time is critcal but I think I should work on accuracy and just let speed happen . All and all IDPA is a great sport and the people that Ive meet are all great to

My CDP is a Colt series 70. Ambi safeties, Pachmayer grips, otherwise stock. Plan to classify with it next month, we'll see how I do. MM in SSR and SSP, let's see how we do in CDP.

Considering getting involved with IDAP at local Club, probably in some low key way and probably never becoming all that serious ,,,, don't anticipate becoming very competitive as a "newbie" just starting out at age 69, but, stranger things have happened.

Looking for your suggestions as to which Model 1911 from the current Smith &Wesson Production you would recommend?

I went to my first IDPA classifier last week and had a great time but one thing I did notice the majority was shooting in the CDP division and shooting 1911 in 45 cal. One of guys let me shoot his very nice. Anyway I would like to purchase one in the near future and would like some suggestions on who makes good reliable 1911's without braking the bank? I can purchase more expensive one later.

S&W 945PC within CDP weight limit?

Has anyone weighed the Smith & Wesson Performance Center Model 945 45 ACP?

S&W specifications say it is 40.5 ounces, but is that with a magazine or without? The CDP weight limit is pretty close, 41 ounces.
The pistol is also awfully close to the IDPA box dimensions.

I am waiting for my gun to arrive in a month or so and am anxious to know if it is suitable for IDPA.

1911 Grip Question??

What type of grip do most competitors take on the 1911? I just picked up a 1911 Loaded have have been fooling with my grip. I always start with a traditional Chapman stance and strong hand thumb under grip when I get a new gun then work toward a thumbs foward isoceles stance once I get used to things

The 1911 seems like it was made for the strong hand thumb to ride on the safety in a thumbs forward grip. I have some private training coming up from a Master IDPA shooter here in...

Anyone know if the new Lone Wolf Tac length slide and barrel for the Glock G21 are legal in CDP? A G21 with the LW slide and barrel installed does fit the box.
