The C.o.F. starts the shooter with 4 rounds in the gun, 2 full mags/speeedloaders on the belt. 1 cardboard target and 1 target that is basically a piece of plastic shaped like a bottle. At the signal the shooter is to engage the carboard with 2 to the body and 1 to the head and shoot the bottle , if the bottle target falls off the table or even moves it is considered a -0 hit. Targets can be engaged in any order . Vickers count

If I was shooting a STI Eagle in 40 cal ( double stack ) in a match in ESP and had a failure, would a STI Trojan ( single stack ) in 40 cal meet all requirements for rule book as replacement to finish match, assuming I use 10 round mags ?

Moonclip Reload with Retention??

I'm still new to IDPA but have shot USPSA for a while. I just got a S&W 625 to use in both sports and have an IDPA match coming up so I thought I'd peruse the rule book to see what the specifics are for reloads. I cannot find anything in there regarding whether or not I need to keep the moonclipped empty brass and put it in a pocket or if I can drop it on the ground and leave it for later. I understand that may be up to the individual match/stage officer but just wanted to know...

Dropping an empty magazine

Could someone explain to me the logic in the rule that requires a penalty for dropping and empty magazine if you still have a round in the chamber? I understand the tactical principal in stowing a partially loaded magazine, but why an empty one? As a true tactical principal it seems to me an empty magazine should be treated as a slidelock reload, not a retention reload unless they plan to allow the carring of additional rounds in your pocket to replenish the mag if you use all your loaded...

DNF question

Question regarding DNF (Did Not Finish). If a shooter fails to comlete a stage due to a broken firearm the rule book gives two options on how to deterrmine a score. The second option is the minimum number of shots required for the stage will be multiplied by three (3) seconds for a stage score. My question is, would this option apply even if that score (rounds required x 3) is lower than a majority of the shooters in the field scored?

Rules clarification question - CZ SP-01 ESP legality

I have a shooter signed up for the California State match who wants to shoot his CZ SP-01 in ESP. I know that there are various threads discussing how the SP-01 is illegal (in stock form) because, a) it's too heavy for SSP, and b) it isn't legal in ESP because of the no full-length dustcover modification rule (page 22).

Concealment garment

Ok I have a question about concealment garments. I'm gonna start shooting at a new club after relocating to Denver area. My question is the club states that it is illegal to wear a concealment vest unless you have a concealed weapons permit. This makes since to me. At clubs I shot at in Tucson it was mandatry to wear the vest. So if you shot at any state match you would have to wear concealment right. If anyone could shed some light on this for me.

If the shooter somehow misses the first target, with the first round, when shooting in tact sequence, can he immediately re-engage that target? That is in a Vickers stage.

Have only shot a few I.D.P.A. matches so still consider myself a "Newbie." Having said that -

All of the I.D.P.A. matches I've shot in had a stage requiring targets to be engaged in a tactical sequence. On the walk-thru the SOs have always explained the sequence (assuming two targets) as 1-2-1 per the example given in the I.D.P.A. rule book. In these matches I've never heard a SO present a different sequence that would still be "legal."
