HoneyBunny called to ask, as he prepares to wing it from FL to the Arctic Blast Match (what is he thinking?) if he should expect any delays based on recent events. I have not flown since the Fruit of the Boom incident - has anyone else, and if so, what have you experienced?

Ruger P345 for IDPA?

Could the Ruger P345 be used for IDPA? I tried a search and didn't find a single result. Is there something wrong with this gun that makes it not suitable for IDPA?

Sight Pusher

I'm getting a great deal on a set of TruGlo sights for my Kimber Custom II. Problem is I don't have a sight pusher to install them. Does anyone in the Philadelphia, PA have a sight pusher tool that will work for the Kimber dovetail sights that is willing to let me borrow it?

Caliber Selection?

Am curious being new to IDPA events: Why do most shooters at these events opt for 9mm vs 40? Is it that the reduced recoil allows for more controlled follow-up shots or something else? Or is it simply that 9 is quite a bit less expensive than almost all other calibers and the unless you reload, the cheaper the ammo the more we all can practice?

I'm planning on attending my first match in a few weeks and have been familiarizing myself w/ the rules and other IDPA requirements. I am confused on which 1911 set-ups are prohibited and not prohibited. I searched other strings here and still haven't quite figured it out. So I am hoping that you more experienced shooters can guide me:

Wilson Tactical Elite - (I believe due to the cone barrel that this is prohibited from a match.) Correct or incorrect?

Pac II timers & cold weather??

Has anyone had any trouble with a Pac II timer not registering correctly in cold weather? During our match 1/2/10 the timer was registering 3 or 4 more shots than had been fired in any given string during a course of fire.

Great gun for prairie dogs, coyotes, or target from a bipod or bench. Selling a used but virtually pristine Olympic Arms UM-1P AR-15. Flat top with picatinny rails, and a picatinny scope riser as well. 20" bull barrel, JP muzzle brake, JP gas block, 6 position adjustable stock, adjustable cheek weld, Wilson Set trigger, winter trigger guard, (1) 20 round mag, (1) 6 round (I think, might be 5) mag, hard plastic case. In very very good shape with low round count. Can email pictures.

Hey y'all,

I've always known there was a shooting sport called IDPA but was never interested in the least, until know. I read around some on the IDPA site and see that's it's a really practical competition that just makes sense to participate in. Training is good.

So, here I am. I don't even have a pistol to shoot, so I'm open to recommendations.

With a renewed interest in pistol shooting with my 1911s and getting involved in IDPA Iv'e come to see that the recoil spring in the 1911s are important.

I ve got a Colt Commander, Colt Commander XSE, and a RIA MS (almost a Commander size) and keep a log of the rounds fired in each of these.

I handload and use the 230gn RN bullet (both jacketed and lead) to velocities in the 800-850fps range (I chronograph).
